The Story Behind Vois

The vision of Vois is to create a better world.  This is the story behind the founder of the brand and how that vision came to be.

The Journey Began...

Ever since I was a child, I knew I was destined to be an artist. I would sit and draw for hours creating elaborate stories with illustrations that my mother would then read me as bedtime stories.  I would also paint on my dolls and color their hair with markers to give them different styles.  Even back then I was learning how art could be a powerful way to bring your vision to life.

Fork In The Road...

As high school came to an end I was faced with the dreaded decision of what I wanted to do with my life.  I narrowed it down to two options.  Option one was to live on the beach and paint pictures.  Option two was to go to college.  Of course I wanted that carefree life full of wanderlust and to paint waves lapping at the sand, however, I knew that I needed to do something bigger. I needed to make an impact that would have never been achieved by following the first option.

When choosing what to study in college, I found myself looking for the largest possible canvas to paint on with a sizable audience to view it.  That is how I came across the world of fashion and fell in love.  I couldn't have imagined finding a better canvas than humans themselves, with the audience being everyone who sees them.  I could visualize how the impact I wanted to make could be achieved by influencing how people not only felt and identified themselves, but how others observed them as well.  I never knew back then, that the impact I could make would be bigger than I ever imagined.

View From Above...

I must admit, I am a fast-fashion addict. For 15+ years I worked in the fast-fashion industry in one position or another.  I have worked for a variety of companies, but never found one that shared the same vision I had for the world. 

It's so easy to get caught up in the currents and to go with the flow.  It is only once you pull yourself out and view that force from above that you really see the big picture. I've experienced firsthand the detrimental effects that the industry can have on the environment and the people involved.  Enormous levels of pollution, economic disparity, and the idea that demand must be met at all cost are just a few of these issues. 

My vision was to create harmony between the beauty of fashion and the environment that it is created in. I knew that others were out there, who shared my vision. That is when I founded Vois.  Vois would be my paintbrush that allowed me to paint the world as I truly saw it.
